A Day to Remember: JDRF One Walk Manchester 15th June 2024

We are thrilled to have attended the JDRF (Breakthrough T1D) One Walk Manchester Event. It was an amazing day, filled with energy and camaraderie, as we met many wonderful people, each personally touched by T1D. The atmosphere was amazing as everyone came together to raise money to find a cure for T1D.

Fun at Our Stall

Our stall was a hive of activity, bringing joy to many children with our over patches and a "Spin the Wheel" game that was a hit with both kids and adults. The children especially loved designing their own patches, and we’re sure they'll be proudly showing them off to family and friends as we speak.

Welcoming and Resilient Organisers

A big shout out to Frankie and Elysia, the wonderful organisers, who made us feel incredibly welcome - a massive thank you to them! They helped us with our table and even rescued our leaflets from the wind and rain as we joined the walk. Despite it being one of the windiest and rainiest days we've ever seen in June, the Mancunian spirit powered everyone on. In fact, we believe this One Walk was completed in record time! 🤣

Memorable Highlights

The day was packed with memorable moments, including:

  • Meeting Lynette and Her Daughter:
  • One of our followers, Lynette from Warrington, and her daughter, who has Type 1 made our day special with their visit.
  • Famous Encounters:
  • We had the pleasure of meeting Rufus the Bear and even a friendly Stormtrooper, who was definitely not working for Darth Vader! 🤣

A Day to be proud of

The JDRF One Walk Manchester was more than just an event; it was a celebration of resilience, community, and hope. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful cause and look forward to many more events like this in the future!  Below is the founders t-shirt, medal and her reason for walking and starting SmileSensors. She has great hope that Breakthrough T1D will be successful in finding better treatments and a cure for all of our children and loved ones.
