World Diabetes Day

World Diabetes Day

To everyone living with Type 1 diabetes, and to everyone who loves someone who does: we see you. A short note from us at Smile Sensors on World Diabetes Day.

Why World Diabetes Day Matters

World Diabetes Day is held on 14 November every year. The date is the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, who, with Charles Best, discovered insulin in 1921. That discovery is the reason millions of people with Type 1 diabetes are alive today. The day is recognised by the World Health Organization and the International Diabetes Federation, and its symbol is the blue circle, a global emblem for diabetes awareness.

Our Salute to the T1D Community

For all those who have Type 1 diabetes, or love someone who does, we salute you. Every day you must be strong in a world that doesn't always understand your struggles. Your bravery and strength deserve to be celebrated.

We must continue to raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes and never give up hope that a cure will be found. 💙

If you'd like to support T1D research today, our Charity Bear patches donate 100% of profits directly to Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF). Every patch is a small step closer to the cure we are all hoping for.
