For many of you, your first encounter with this wonderful organization may have been through the beloved Rufus teddy bear, a comforting gift for children diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. For countless families, including my own, that little bear was a symbol of hope during an overwhelming and life-changing time. It provided a sense of comfort—not just for our children, but for us as parents, as we navigated the challenges of a new reality. Rufus has come to represent resilience, hope, and the ongoing fight for a cure.
Beyond those special bears, Breakthrough T1D is making life better every day by funding cutting-edge research into new treatments and technologies, with the ultimate goal of preventing and curing Type 1 diabetes. They are true champions, bringing together brilliant minds, passionate people, and innovative ideas to make a real difference. Their tireless efforts inspire us, as they continue to drive progress toward the breakthrough we all hope for.

We recently had the privilege of joining the Manchester walk, and it was such an uplifting experience to meet so many wonderful people united by a shared commitment to this cause. As the founder of Smilesensors and a parent personally impacted by Type 1 diabetes, supporting Breakthrough T1D is incredibly close to my heart.
